Your body’s Endocannabinoid system regulates processes throughout your body, but scientists did not always know about this important aspect of human anatomy. During the 1990’s researchers at Hebrew University in Jerusalem discovered substances manufactured by and in the human body which caused and permitted the communication between cells and organs. In fact, the network was so complete that it became referred to as the Endocannabinoid system. Receptors referred to as CB1 and CB2 are located throughout the body and particularly within the brain and nervous system, the respiratory system, the intestinal tract and digestive system. These receptors communicate with all the organs which produce and deliver virtually every enzyme or substance that keeps the body in balance and working properly. That is called homeostasis. When cells are not communicating that’s when health problems arise. When you get a bump or muscle ache the body sends signals that it needs help in that location. The body produces substances with anti-inflammatory qualities and sends help. The way it knows about the problem is through communication. It’s as if the cells have cell phones and call for help. The body’s Endocannabinoid system produces substances called Anandamide and 2-AG which are responsible for the cell’s ability to communicate. When they are sufficient the body can call for help. However, there are other enzymes which naturally break down those substances and the body needs to replace them. This is where Cannabinoids from plants supplement those made by the body. They are called Phytocannabinoids. They are needed in the same way as when the body does not produce enough amino acids and they can be obtained by eating plant proteins such as in beans (legumes). When the Endocannabinoid system is enriched the communication is enhanced. Like getting great cell phone reception on a 5G network or getting HD TV instead of an old style antenna.
